Anne Rajoo

Growing up in a tiny military village in East Germany, I was always instilled with the drive to give my best. My father was the embodiment of hard work. Our first “real” family vacation wasn’t until I was 16, as my dad never found the time to take off work.

From a young age, I embraced competition as an athlete, pushing myself to excel in everything I did. This relentless drive followed me into adulthood as I transitioned into motherhood and entrepreneurship, constantly striving to juggle multiple projects. However, I soon found myself trapped in a cycle where my to-do list felt never-ending. So much so that I no longer enjoyed the work I once loved.

I caught myself thinking, “If I could just manage my time better or squeeze more into my day, I’d get ahead.” Yet, beneath these thoughts, a nagging question lingered: “Am I doing this right?” The more I pushed, the more it felt like I wasn’t being productive enough. This frustration grew, leading to burnout and resentment, making me question if it was all worth it.

I often found myself snapping at my loved ones, struggling to switch off from work when I wanted to be present with my kids.

I knew this was no longer sustainable.

So I began to research, try new approaches to work, and experiment with strategies that prioritised not just output, but well-being. I learned that true productivity isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most and finding the space to breathe in between.
