Delegate to enjoy yourself more (especially during the festive season)
Christmas season often comes wrapped in the hustle and bustle of holiday to-dos. As the tasks multiply, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. In the rush, we tend to sideline the very things that bring us joy and recharge our energy – the Energy Gainers, as I like to call them. These are the activities that light us up and make all the other tasks more manageable.
This tip comes from Amber Trueblook who I interviewed a few years ago and I’ve condensed Amber’s wisdom into a 5-minute clip that you can watch [here].
It’s a game-changer, especially during this festive season.
The “Let Them” Theory
In the swirl of holiday festivities, family gatherings, and the intricacies of human relationships, the desire to control outcomes can often lead to anxiety and tension. I love listening to podcasts in bed and last night I listened to Steven Bartlett interviewing Mel Robbins. Mel shared her personal struggle with the need for control and how adopting the “Let Them” theory transformed her approach.
The essence of this theory lies in allowing others to be themselves—letting them have their reactions, thoughts, and expressions without feeling the weight of responsibility. As Mel eloquently puts it, “So much time and energy is wasted on forcing other people to match our expectations.” Here is a short clip from Mel.
As we navigate the holiday season, let’s explore how adopting this theory can bring a sense of ease and joy, allowing us to savour the moments without unnecessary stress.
Let your creative spirits shine this Christmas
This year, I finally returned to making personalised Christmas calendars for my boys. It’s a tradition passed down from my mum, creating the warmest memories.
Now, I understand that not everyone may feel naturally crafty, or perhaps, like me in previous years, you’ve felt too drained to embark on a handmade venture. That’s absolutely okay! There’s an alternative path to infuse creativity into your celebrations—supporting local artisans.
This week I bought some lovely gift tags crafted by the talented kids of a local school for handicapped children. It’s a beautiful way to add a personal touch to your gifts while contributing to the community.
Whether you create your own masterpieces or celebrate the creations of others, the essence lies in embracing the spirit of Christmas through creativity.
