Maximise Your Return on Time
In the world of productivity, time is our most valuable currency. But how effectively are we investing it?
Consider this: instead of focusing solely on the monetary return, let’s shift our perspective to the Return on Time.
How is our time best spent to generate the biggest impact?
In a recent podcast interview, I shared an anecdote about friend who spent three hours grappling with an email-sending system issue, only to find a solution in 15 minutes when seeking help.
Sounds familiar?
And if it’s not work-related, you’ve probably heard stories of someone attempting to fix a leaky faucet or repair a broken appliance trying to save money initially but ending up hiring a skilled plumber or electrician anyway.
While we may be capable of handling various tasks, there are often experts who can do them faster and better. By embracing outsourcing or adding team members, we can ensure everyone works in their zone of genius, maximising efficiency and productivity.
The “only I can do it all" Trap
In early motherhood, I did this a lot…
Only I can do it “right”. Or “I can do it all”.
And I’ve also seen it a lot in entrepreneurship.
Have you fallen into the “only I can do it all” trap?
In the podcast interview, I share how this mindset is not only counterproductive but also emotionally and mentally draining.
One of the biggest fears clients who work with a VA for the first time have, is that delegating tasks may result in below-standard outcomes. Or they feel solely responsible for the success of their ventures. Another reason why many entrepreneurs struggle to let go of control is a lack of trust towards others to perform tasks as well as they can.
For many entrepreneurs, their work is deeply intertwined with their identity and sense of self-worth. They may equate their ability to handle everything themselves with their value as entrepreneurs.
Letting go of the need to control every aspect of our lives can lead to greater productivity, fulfillment, and peace of mind.
Productivity Beyond Output
Productivity isn’t just about the output but also about the input.
Recently, my friend from the UK visited, and as we spent our days hiking, chatting, and exploring, I realised the importance of nourishing activities in our routines.
From co-working sessions to bouncing ideas and enjoying our own priorities, these experiences felt incredibly fulfilling and energising.
It has reminded me how productivity is intertwined with self-care, joy, and meaningful connections.
This week, I invite you to review your schedule and see if you’ve left any space for self-care, joy, and connection.
